Three secrets to help simplify long-distance moves
If you are one of the millions and millions of Americans that moved their home or their business operation in just the last year, the odds are pretty good that you are intimately familiar with all of the stress and pressure that moving puts on all of us.
There are only a handful of things more stressful than handling a long-distance move all on our own, which is why the overwhelming majority of us turn to professional moving companies and expert movers to get the job done without having to lift a finger of our own.
Even that is a bit of a challenge, especially if you don’t know which of the Fort Collins moving companies you should be working within the first place.
To help you along, we’ve put together three secrets that will dramatically simplify the long-distance move you are about to tackle.
Only work with the best moving companies around
There is a world of difference between working with professional movers and just a couple of guys with strong backs and pickup trucks. If you’re looking to move long-distance (the state or even across the country), you need to be 100% certain that you are only working with professionals that have been at this game for a while, know exactly what they’re doing, and have all of the experience and equipment necessary to get your stuff from one home to another in one piece.
Understand “First Available Delivery Dates”
When hiring a new moving company, you are going to be provided with a handful of different delivery dates that they have opened and available – and you’re going to want to choose the first available delivery dates to speed up the moving process.
Once a moving company agrees to take on your move, they are contractually obligated to make sure that your property shows up within seven days of that first available delivery date. Understanding this ahead of time is going to make it a lot easier for you to plan your move more efficiently, so that you’re good to go when all of your possessions show up.
Take advantage of dedicated truck and team moving services
The last thing that you’re going to want to do when hiring movers (from Fort Collins or anywhere else, for that matter) is have multiple teams and multiple trucks on the job.
Instead, you’re going to want to hire a dedicated team and a single truck (or team of trucks) to get all of your stuff from one point to another the more trucks and teams that you have involved, the higher your chances are of not getting the things that you wanted moved in the first place. There are all kinds of things that can go wrong when there are lots of “cooks in the kitchen”, so streamline things dramatically and work with one truck and one team (or as many trucks and teams as you need to move everything).
